The Race Begins

The view is spectacular from Turn 2 at Sears Point.
Here the field is finishing its pace lap.

First lap, second corner. The Panoz Twins are as close as they will get.

The Audis begin to pull away already.

A great drive by McNish, followed by a clean stint from Capello.

Pirro and Biela drove the second car. Neither team missed a beat all day.

The championship-leading Viper was second in GTS, but it was impressive
to see the LeMans winners in action.

This Barbour 911 almost caught the BMW M3 of Stuck/Said.

The second Panoz, which retired early.

I wish the BMW V12 LMR were more competitive with the Audis.
They sound spectacular.

Looking fresh after over 2 hours of racing, the leading Audi sails to victory.
