Ayrton Senna
Building the Cars of a Champion

This is the first in a series of features covering the cars that Ayrton Senna drove
throughout his career. Part One focuses on the red and white cars of McLaren
in which Senna scored 35 victories and won three World Championships
in 1988, 1990, and 1991.

Part I: The McLaren Years

Tamiya has produced kits for each of the cars that Senna drove for McLaren.
Each kit is nearly flawless and highly detailed. This dedicated manufacturing is
evidence of Senna's vast popularity in Japan at the time. His affiliation with Honda
introduced him to the Japanese, but his genius won them over for good.

These kits are all collector's items, with only the MP4/8 being seen fairly regularly.
