Grand Prix and Sports Cars

Models, text, and photos by Scott Kercher

This Ford GT is a simple Majorette diecast with parts from a junked Fujimi kit.
Decals are from Cady and Umi, with a little work here and there
to show you don't have to spend a fortune to get a nice shelf model.
This model represents chassis no. 1004, Hawkins and Hobbs, Spa, 1968

This Ferrari GTO combines the Italeri body and chassis with P.E. parts from
Herb Deeks, R&M Co. of Maryland, and the Gunze kit. It has resin seats from
a Western GTO, resin exhaust dumps and other detail parts from the climax kit.
This model represents G. Hill's Maranello Concessionaires' TT car at Goodwood.
Chassis no. 4399.

Note that this car is Right-Hand Drive, and it is unique in that the gas filler
has also been moved to the right side. Circles and numbers are hand-cut.

The Western GP cars are among my favorites. They are beautiful,
(and heavy!), kits that are well-engineered and fun to build.
This is G. Farina's 1950 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GP.

These kits were built mostly out-of-the-box with only added wiring.

This is J.M. Fangio's 1957 Maserati, as raced at the French GP at Rouen.
Chassis no. 2529. Here I did add an oil cooler.

Western GP kits are not very common now, and rarely seen built-up.
