Including both Champion GT Porsches, scratchbuilt 917 in 1/12th, 996 in 1/12th, under construction photos of 1/12th scratchbuilt Cobra body, Corvette C5-R body and Lola T-600. It concludes with a collection pic of over 14 Momo racers in 1/43rd.

This is Tamiya's excellent 1/24th kit utilizing Scale Design's decal transkit to create the Champion Porsche GTS competitor.

Dale's GT1 Porsche is based on the excellent UT kit and once again Scale Designs provides the decals for this Champion Porsche.

Dale's scratchbuilt 1/12th 917 has been featured on a previous issue, but the work is so fantastic that I decided to ask Dale to let us show it once again.

1/12th Gunnar Porsche "966" - the body was laid up in fiberglass as with the Corvette.

Patterns for all the various components were scratch built, molds created and then copies in resin were made.

I drew up the brake and caliper art, had them photoetched in 1/16th inch magnesium and used that for the patterns.

Someday I may go back and create the artwork for the American/British "flags" decals and really finish this one. On the other hand I rather like it in white.

The interior is fully detailed even down to the battery to the right of the driver.

If you look closely you can see the word "Brembo" etched into the calipers and then painted red.

Dale didn't say much about this 1/12th Cobra in primer, but I can't wait to see what becomes of it.

1/12th 1998 Corvette CR5 - the body was created by pattern maker Lloyd Asbury (one of the partners in Precision Miniatures) for Action. It was used for the 1/43rd and 1/18th die casts. Lloyd, knowing I love 1/12th cars, loaned me the mold and I laid the model up in fiberglass. I made the wing out of Renshape, the supports & end plates in aluminum and the rear defuser in styrene. It will probably never go beyond this point. Before anyone asks, the molds have been destroyed.

1/12th Lola T-600 - Totally scratch built using Roger Taylor's 1/24th plans blown up as a starting point. The body patterns were carved out of clear white pine and then a good friend vacuum formed the shapes in 30 thou' plastic.

All details were added after, like the body separation lines, window openings, Naca ducts, louvers, etc. The wing, air scoops and Naca ducts were all created out of wood, molds made and then castings put in the proper locations.

The wing supports and end plates, exhaust pipes, and other assorted small pieces are done in either aluminum or brass. This model, when finished someday, will represent the Interscope version.

1/43rd Momo cars - this is an assortment of Daytona cars from my collection of over 65 Momo models. There are Porsches, Nissans, Marches, Ferraris and even an Alba. I have a lot more models of cars that race at Daytona in this scale but they are still in boxes awaiting new display cases (I'm in the process of redoing all my old show cases for my new home).
