Alpine A110
by David Durst
Kit Manufacturer: Wave
This model was built mostly out of box.

Foil scripts were made to replace the molded in scripts on the body. Scripts on the trunk and body sides were removed prior to painting.
This particular kit's molds are fair to poor.

Quite a bit of cleanup was required prior to painting. In particular the front hood lines went from fair recessed panel lines to raised panel lines on the nose of the car.
Clamping of the finished parts was required in order to get even remotely clean joints in the rear of the car. I had to remove as much as ¼" of material on the rear wheel well liners to get the body to fit.

Fit is poor in all areas with no exceptions. Due to the way the kit is molded, some parts of the body were attached after complete painting and decaling.
On the positive side of things, these are some of the best decals I have worked with. All laid down well and required no solvent.

Several coats of clear were applied with sanding between each coat to hide the decal carrier film. After polishing that car was weathered with Tamiya paints to simulate the after race conditions.
