Chris
Webb's collection
Chris Webb is an avid
scale modeler who's been building
for over 30 years. His taste runs the gamut from 50's era
Ferrari racers to customs and quarter-milers, though he
freely admits that 50's to 60's sports racers and Can-Ams
are his favorites. Chris will display several of these in the
upcoming 2000 IMPS Nationals, so consider this
a small virtual preview of the Nats!

GEORGE TURNER MODELS Cheetah in 1/43rd.

This kit is mostly resin with some white metal parts.
Wheels and tires are from TESTOR'S `32 Hi-Boy. The tire
decals are leftovers from another kit. Headlights, turn
signals and taillights are all model railroad items from
M.V.PRODUCTS. I also added racing harnesses to the driver's
seat.

ESDO trailer in 1/43rd.
This kit is all metal except tires. Only things added
are safety chain and fender marker lights. Both kits
were painted Duplicolor black lacquer.

The MINI-EXOTICS Cheetah.

Engine from `65 Corvette. Injectors from aluminum tubing.
Exhaust from parts box with aluminum tubing extensions.

MASTER hood pin set. MRC drilled brake rotors.
Wheels and tires from parts box. Duplicolor black lacquer paint.

PIT PORSCHE 917 in 1/43rd.

This is a resin kit that was supposed to be a David Piper
car in red but I had just built four Ferraris and was tired of
painting red!

Instead, I just turned it into a generic 917.
I wish the rear framework showed up better. It was a pain!

MARSH MODELS CHAPARRAL 2E in 1/43rd.

This resin and white metal kit represents Phil Hill`s drive at
Laguna Seca.

ESDO CHAPARRAL 2C in 1/43rd.

This is a resin and white metal kit of Jim Hall`s first car with
a movable wing.
The only thing I added is the wing actuator rod.

This was a much simpler kit than the 2E but it's also half the
price.
Paint is Duplicolor white.

STARTER ASTON MARTIN DBR-1 Le Mans winner 1959 in 1/43rd

This is a very simple resin kit of the car Carroll Shelby
co-drove with Roy Salvadori at Le Mans `59.
Paint is Duplicolor Forest Green.

MARSH MODELS "Flip Top" Cobra in 1/43rd scale.
The first big block [390 c.i.] Cobra.
Duplicolor Deep Blue Metallic lacquer.

MONOGRAM ULTIMATES 289 COBRA in 1/43rd.

Added coil, plug wires, fan belt, alternator wiring to engine.
Seat belts from photo-etch aircraft detail set.
Painted with Gunze Metallic Green acrylic.

HISTORIC REPLICARS LOLA T70 in 1/43rd.

This is an all metal kit that I picked up at a swap meet.
It is an old kit and pretty crude but once finished turned out
O.K.

Paint is Plasticoat royal blue lacquer.

MARSH MODELS `66 Lola T70 in 1/43rd.

Roger Penske car driven by Mark Donahue. Resin and white
kit with turned intake trumpets and wheel rims.

The entire cockpit tub is photo-etch along with spoilers, racing
harness and mirror support. The yellow is Testors yellow enamel,
it
matched the decals pretty well. Body is Plasticote royal blue
lacquer.

John Simons at MARSH makes some of the best engineered
1/43rd
kits on the market. They are a pleasure to build!

AMR `54 FERRARI 375 PLUS Le Mans winner 1954 in 1/43rd.

This kit is all metal except tires and windshield.
It weighs a ton for it`s size!

Built out of the box and painted Duplicolor Flash Red lacquer.

LE PHOENIX `58 FERRARI 250 TR Le Mans winner 1958 in 1/43rd.

Another all metal kit built out of the box.

Paint is Cardinal Red by Duplicolor, of course.

RENAISSANCE `59 FERRARI 250 TR in 1/43rd.

This kit is mostly resin with a few white metal parts and
a LOT of photo-etch parts. This is maybe the most eye
straining, finger numbing kit I`ve ever built. Each
individual intake trumpet had to have a flat spot
filed on the top bell so that they would fit side by side!
Each tonneau cover snap, and there are ten, are two pieces.
Color is Cardinal Red like the `58.

If something doesn`t look quite right thats because
the engine in these cars was off-set to the left to
compensate for the weight of the driver on the right!
If I could own any car, this would be it. Or maybe a Cheetah!

SCALE RACING CARS Ferrari F1 in 1/43rd.

This kit represents the last car driven by Bandini.
He crashed in this car at Monte Carlo in 1967 and was
killed. Its an all metal kit except tires. All the white
metal suspension parts are very delicate by themselves
but as soon as it all came together it was surprisingly
sturdy. The only thing I added to this model is the rear
uprights made from piano wire. Paint is Duplicolor Cardinal red.
